Biographical Information

While Santa Fe has been the home of Mr. Amburn since 1976, his oil and acrylic paintings of flower gardens, still-life, landscapes, and Native Americans have been shown in many galleries throughout the United States. His paintings are also in private, corporate and public collections throughout the world, including Moscow, China, and the Vatican.
In addition to the traditional subjects in his paintings, Mr. Amburn is also inspired by people in ordinary situations. He will often find material for his work in coffee houses, restaurants, on the street and on the beach. He sculpts and paints subjects of a spiritual nature and enjoys adding social commentary to his paintings.
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mr. Amburn received a Bachelors degree in art from the Fort Wayne Fine Art Institute. Later he earned his Masters of Professional Arts from the Art Center in Pasadena, California. While he perfected his skill as a painter, Mr. Amburn worked in architectural design, graphic design, illustration and supervised art for commercial photography.
Just as his career as a painter began to bring success, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. For several years he devoted himself to healing his body and spirit. After meeting this life altering challenge, Mr. Amburn succeeded in the highly competitive art world, earning the recognition of his peers and collectors around the world.
The range of his palette and subjects all express one thing in common: His passion for all that is colorful and beautiful in life.
